At
that moment, I had a choice, I can run and be in denial about
the disease and have a bad attitude or I could be educated on
my own health and have a POSTIVE ATTITUDE. Get myself prepared
to find крутые достопримечательности Нижнего Новгорода information and not just waiting to hear what a doctor
would tell me. I did not know much about Thyroid Cancer but had
a doctor friend (Dr Paul Ruggieri who is featured in my doctors
in the house) who wrote a book on Thyroid Disorder. He was the
first person I called to understand what I would need to know
for the coming months.
I
educated my self on my Cancer; I learned that if I were to have
a cancer I at least had a fighting chance with this type. I was
schedule on May 5, 2004 for surgery to remove both my entire thyroid
and the malignant tumor that was attached to the thyroid.
Once
the thyroid was removed only then can they assess the spread of
the cancer. It appeared that it had spread to my lymph node and
that it was confirmed that I had three types of thyroid cancer.
I understood through my doctor what type of Oncology treatment
she recommended but I needed to make sure that, it was what would
be best for me. I researched who in the country did the most thyroid
cancer procedures and Oncology treatments and what were the success
rates for someone like me.
On
June 14, 2004, I was given radiation. It would be an oral treatment.
I orally consumed two pills that were filled with radiation to
kill the leftover cancer still in my body. Radiation is never
fun especially when it is given all at one time. It was successful,
in my road to ablate the cancer.
It’s
now 2005 and I am grateful to be in remission and to have a wonderful
daughter (Sheleah) who held herself strong throughout this ordeal.
My family, especially my sister Michelle who was at my side the
moment I found out. Friends like Michael, Liz, Johnnie, Paul,
Joyce, Lori, Jan, Traci, Rose, Dawn and Karen, I can’t thank
you enough for being there for me, words can’t express the
gratitude I feel to have you all in my life. Crandal, whom when
times were the toughest for me, was there to ease the pain lovingly,
for that, I thank you. My teams of physician you are my angels,
Dr Booker Bush for having the insight to continue to push until
we got the answers we needed, don’t lose your gut instinct.
Dr Pam Hartzband thanks for your positive reinforcement and your
attention to detail with me. Dr Peter Mowschenson, your surgical
hands should be bronzed, my recovery was terrific. Thanks so much!!
